Gran Torino is an American drama movie from 2008 and it’s produced and directed by Clint Eastwood, who also plays the main character. In the movie we get to meet Walt Kowalwski, an angry embedded widower who has to deal with the new, foreign neighbors. But through his relationship with the members of a Hmong immigrant family, his heart softens. This movie deals with many different themes such as racism, friendship and life and death.
In the beginning, Walt does’nt like his neighbors because they are Asian, and Walt has fought in the Korean war and he therefore looks at them as the “enemy”. This changes when he realizes that he has to protect the neighbor kids Thao and Sue from gang-members.
